Abstract: The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company, after more than two years of study and testing, has committed to replace existing pneumatic construction tools with hydraulic powered tools. This decision was made on the basis of anticipated reductions in downtime and maintenance costs as well as greatly improved performance. Other considerations were the ability of the hydraulic system to meet noise limitations specified by the Environmental Protection Agency, less truck space requirements, lighter weight and reduced input power requirements of the hydraulic system.
