Abstract: The design, operation and benefits of a high-speed, computerized test system for measuring the performance levels of pneumatic tools and air compressors is described. Originally conceived and funded by Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., the existing prototype systems are being brought to commercial-level status under the joint sponsorship of the Gas Research Institute, Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., Brooklyn Union Gas Company, and Southern California Gas Company. Prime contractor for the work is Maurer Engineering Inc. of Houston, Texas.
