Abstract: Before discussing how we test the Emergency Shutdown Systems at our compressor stations, I would like to take a typical ESD system and discuss that system. At Calvert City, Kentucky, we have two reciprocating engine buildings and one turbine engine building. In one of the reciprocating engine buildings we have eight HBA-6 Clark engines. In the other recip building we have four TLA-6 Clark engines. In the turbine building we have a Pratt & Whitney GG3C-4 turbine driving a Cooper-Bessemer centrifugal compressor. Drawing 9-MC-902, is a high pressure gas flow diagram which shows valves marked in red that are activated by an ESD system.
