Abstract: Not since the spring of 1976 has there been any mention of the Running Film Vaporizer (RFV) before the American Gas Association membership and in particular its LNG affiliates. While RFVs were first introduced and tested in the early 70s as Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) vaporizers, their ascent into the market place as viable regasification equipment has been slow and undramatic. This is unfortunate since the RFV belongs to that genre family of plate heat exchangers that have been used successfully for many years in the food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical, and petrochemical industries. However, like any cautious and wise consumer, the natural gas industry tends to seek the development of a sufficient historical base and need before risking its committmeni to public safety, product reliability, and cost effectiveness.
