Abstract: Ultrasonic measurements are commonly used today and one of the areas is in flow measurements 1. When measuring fluid velocities the equipment might get exposed to apparent changes in temperature, ambient or in the fluid, and this fact raises a number of issues. Several parameters that affect the measurement results are temperature dependent, e.g. flow velocity, fluid density, fluid viscosity and thermal expansion in materials 2. In this paper the effects of thermal expansion are considered and how to reduce the error they might give on performed measurements.
