Abstract: An interferometer for the calibration of accelerometers was developed in the calibration section of the Ministry of Defense for the purpose of calibrating accelerometer standards. The interferometer was built from off-the-shelf components. The system is capable of calibrating accelerometers from 50 to 500Hz at g levels from 1 to 10. The paper discusses the configuration. construction, special precautions which were taken in order to achieve an uncertainty of about 0.5%. and a discussion of the test results.
