Abstract: This report discusses mutual interference problems that resuh when electric and gas facilities operate in close proximity and summarizes Consumers Power Company Gas P&T departments approach to analysis and control of these problems, during construction and operation of gas transmission lines. Although electric and gas operations are not compatible, situations where they must coexist are becoming a normal rather than a unique occurrence. It is. therefore, necessary to have a basic understanding of the electrical interference problems that can result and of corrective measures which can be taken during design, construction, and operation of a gas pipeline facility to minimize these interference effects.
