Abstract: The term moisture refers to the water content of any material - solid, liquid or gas. However, its customary to use the word moisture for the water content of solids or liquids, reserving the term humidity for the water content of gases. This discussion of the principles of moisture analysis will cover basic concepts, definitions and units followed by descriptions of the commonly used instrumental methods including their strengths and weaknesses. After considering some moisture calibration techniques, the discussion will conclude with a series of review questions.
