Abstract: It is now widely accepted that world oil reserves are split approximately into 70% high-viscosity and 30% (low-viscosity) conventional light oils. Exploitation of these viscous deposits is growing rapidly, buoyed by occasional high oil prices and an increasing demand for security of energy supply.
