Abstract: No problem today affects our way of life more than our national energy supply. The aspect of that problem which I will address is the status of proved reserves of natural gas. This problem is of great importance because it is the single most important factor in establishing the forecasts of gas supply in the next five to ten years. The long term history of the proved reserves, net production and reserve additions of natural gas is shown in Figure 1. Proved reserves are those volumes of natural gas about which there is a reasonable certainty of their existence and which are producible under current economic and operating conditions,
