Abstract: Several coal gasification processes are now being considered for use in poiential SNG ventures in the United States. In addition to the SNG produced, by-products will be generated in varying amounts, depending on the gasification technology and the coal used- The systems closest to commercialization in the United States are based on fixed-bed gasification thai, in addition to ammonia and sulfur, produces large amounts of liquid hydrocarbon by-products that contain sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen. For example, it is estimated that the proposed 250 MMscf/day WESCO SNG plant which would operate on low-sulfur subbiiuminous coal would produce the following by-products:
