Abstract: What do the letters, flIACE. stand for? National Association of Corrosion Engineers. NACE is a scientific, educational, and research association of individuals and companies concerned with the protection of materials in corrosive environments. Founded and incorporated as a nonprofit organization under the laws of Texas in 1945, NACE had its earliest beginnings in groups of pipeline operators meeting between 1936 and 1940 to discuss mutual problems of cathodic protection. In 1943, 11 engineers met and drafted the first organization and by laws.
