Abstract: A solution to the Navys requirement to calibrate high power RF wattmeters included selection of a standard consisting of a 40 dB coupler-bolometer combination. This standard was expected to measure RF power up to 200 watts over the frequency range 10 to 400 MHz. Implementation of this standard involved development of a calibration procedure. An approach developed by Kenneth E. Bramall (1) of the National Bureau of Standards was adopted to permit calibration of these units to within a few percent. This paper details the method used to provide NBS traceability through the use of standard, low power thermistor mounts.
