Abstract: There has never been a system designed that will eliminate the escaping of gas in one way or another. Why is this true? Gas is permeable to every system. Fpr example, with PE2306 pipe, the volume of methane lost through permeation in one mile of 2-inch pipe operated at 60 psi is about 0.26 cubic feet per day. All systems are not installed with 2-inch pipe. If all systems leak, we have unaccounted-for gas. Therefore, how do we determine how much gas we lose?
