Title: Environmental Impacts On Pipeline Construction
Author: W. Thomas Raines
Source: American Gas Association 1990
Year Published: 1990
Abstract: In December 1987, Atlanta Gas Light Company (AGLC) completed installation in north Georgia of 78 miles of 16-inch line to connect with East Tennessee Natural Gas Company at the Tennessee-Georgia state line. Before construction began, AGLC completed environmental impact studies required for approval of the project by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Securing that approval took 10 months, while installing the pipeline took only four. AGLC concluded that environmental issues negatively impacted pipeline construction in terms of cost and time.
