Abstract: Completilive changes in the marketplace are requiring many gas utilities to look for new methods or processes to redue construction and operating costs. At Southern California Gas Company (SoCal), large diarater (6 PE) pipe was evaluated as a cost-effective alternative to steel pipe. This report outlines the methodology used by SoCal to evaluate and identify the cost-benefits associated with large diameter PE pipe.
