Abstract: The biogas industry has grown immensely over the last several years. The use of biogas as a renewable energy source has aided in reducing emissions and provides many other environmental benefits. Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) is a term used to describe biogas that has been upgraded to use in place of the fossil natural gas typically found in US pipelines today. RNG has many uses that provide environmental, economic, and energy benefits. With federal and state mandates to decarbonize and reach net-zero emissions, RNG will play a vital role in the path to reaching these goals. In this paper the following will be discussed: History of biogas and RNG Benefits of RNG Biogas production Biogas upgrading to RNG Pipeline interconnection
