Abstract: Every company involved in the natural gas industry must reckon with the issue of how to determine and apply gas quality throughout their measurement systems. Pro- duction, gathering, midstream, pipeline and distribution companies are all impacted in this area even though the metering conditions and gas flows swing significantly. The issue of accurate gas quality has an impact on reporting an accurate volume and energy to each customer, man- aging the unaccounted for (UAF) gas loss, determining potential operating condition impacts on the pipeline sys- tem, and the potential fugitive emissions.
