Abstract: The Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors has been in production with the present family of heavy duty, fully automatic transmissions for the truck and bus markets since 1970. With increasing emphasis on overall economic improvement in the general truck and bus industry, the application of automatic transmissions in this industry has become readily apparent, as proven by many major trucking firms using the Allison Automatics in quantity.
