Abstract: lIQlJID CRYSTALS FOR THERMOMETRY Paper discusses design and engineering advantages and disadvantages of liquid crystals for thermometry. Parameters such as repeatability, time of response, accuracy, drift, ease of reading, cost and stability are reviewed as well as the use of these materials in thermal mapping. Paper also discusses design of a pocket pyrometer designed to extend the useful range of liquid crystal materials into the 900 range.
