Abstract: Analog control signals were established early in the 1950s to be able to get reliable process information over a distance to a control room. Digital communication protocols were introduced to the market in the mid 1980s starting with HART communication which is where digital information is superimposed on top of the 4-20mA analog control signal and was followed by an whole assortment of Protocols
