Abstract: Gas measurement has had many years to advance and refine itself. Improvements have been made and sources of potential errors have been eliminated. Yet the orifice meter remains as the standard for gas measurement, and will probably see many more years of service. The orifice meter system is divided into two parts. The primary element consists of the meter tube, straightening vanes and orifice plate. All other equipment, such as the differential, recorder, static pressure element and temperature gauge, is called the secondary element. To insure that the data recorded on the meter chart is correct, some basic guidelines must be followed to make certain the orifice meter operates within tolerance,
