Abstract: A control valve utilizing a solid rubber plug for the controlling mechanism was first introduced in the gas industry in 1958. Of particular importance to that industry is the fact that this is the only control valve used in the industry that was designed within the gas industry and specifically for gas service. Over the years field experience has influenced improvements in the rubber plug type valve that has broadened its scope of operation along with improving its operational reliability.
