Abstract: The gas product standards for the gas industry have been historically sponsored in the U.S. and Canada by their respective trade associations, the American Gas Association and the Canadian Gas Association. Following the development of and maturing of the standards, the program became in the late 1960s and 1970s a maintenance program for existing standards. As we entered the 1980s and into the 1990s with higher efficiencies/energy conservation, new technologies, new trade agreements and greater international activity, more attention has been focused on standards.
