Title: A Novel Electrically Activated Pipe Coupler
Author: Nachum Rosenzweig

Abstract: This paper describes a new approach to joining polyethylene (PE) pipe. A coupler made of an electrically conductive polymeric compound is powered by a 24V source. When activated, the coupler heats up, shrinks radially, grips the pipes, melts Iheir surfaces, and creates a butt fusion. The following is a description and a discussion of the applied test procedures, product performance, and characteristics of an eleel iofusion-type coupling.
