Abstract: Increased public scrutiny and heightened regulatory awareness require new approaches to ensure environmental compliance during pipeline construction. Recent experiences on the Southern Natural Gas Company (Southern) North Alabama Pipeline Project (NAPP) provide an opportunity to learn new and better ways of dealing with landowners and citizen groups, regulatory agencies, and contractors. The lessons learned during the NAPP will allow better communications among affected parties, a more streamlined regulatory review process, and effective environmental compliance for future projects.
