Abstract: As the United States celebrates its bicentennial anniversary, it is appropriate to recognize that the industrial growth of our nation has been achieved through the diversified usage of our energy-producing resources and the innovative yenius of our fore-fathers. For 160 years of our 200 year heritage, the commercial use of gas has been a prevalent factor contributing to our growth. In its infancy, gas was used primarily to illuminate streets, stores, and the homes of the well-to-do.
