Abstract: The critical flow prover method of field testing large capacity meters is applicable when the absolute downstream pressure Is approximately one-half of the absolute upstream pressure. Critical flow condition exists when the velocity of the gas through the orifice reaches an absolute maximum. Absolute maximum velocity exists when the absolute downstream pressure is 0.528 of the absolute upstream pressure.
