Abstract: To assure continuous operation of natural gas transmission lines it is necessary to control the amount of water vapor in natural gas. Continual or frequent measurement of the water vapor content is required to achieve this goal. Many reports are presented on various instruments available for monitoring water vapor content. It is the intent in this paper to study the problem as an analytical chemist in hopes that this viewpoint of the problem will enable the student to better understand the possible solutions and to make a satisfactory choice for the particular situation he faces.
