Abstract: r a d i t i o n a l l y , o r i f i c e meter s i g n a l s have been recorded o n - s i t e by means of mechanical c i r c u l ar c h a r t r e c o r d e r s . These c h a r t s have been c o l l e c t ed weekly or monthly and i n t e g r a t e d for volume d e t e r m i n a t i o n . This procedure has a l e n g t h y l a g between time of a c t u a l gas flow and time of r e p o r t i n g. With the advent of s p i r a l i n g gas p r i c e s and p e n a l ty c l a u s e s for e x c e s s i v e r a t e d e l i v e r i e s , both custome r and s u p p l i e r a r e looking towards q u i c k e r and more a c c u r a t e methods of o b t a i n i n g flow and t o t al q u a n t i t y . By use of f i e l d mounted e l e c t r o n i c flow computers, flow i n f o r m a t i o n is processed on an i n s t a n t a n e o u s and continuous b a s i s.
