Abstract: The sampling of light liquid hydrocarbons most generally involves one of two types of sampling: (1) flow proportional composite type sampling by a mechanical device, and/or (2) the physical transfer of hydrocarbon fluids from a flowing pipeline or other source into a suitable portable sample container. This paper will discuss in some detail the importance of these procedures, and the proper equipment and techniques needed to perform these operations.
