Abstract: The natural gas industry is putting gas back into the ground-but where it is needed instead of where it happened to be found. Dealers in natural gas have learned to do what dealers in other seasonal commodities have been doing since the dawn ot history-store it in the summer when it isnt needed so as to have plenty in the winter when it is needed. Natural gas storage is. in effect, the warehousing of gas by gas utilities and transmission companies during the summer, when the supply exceeds the demand for home and industry, then, withdrawing it in winter when cold weather pushes demand above supply.
