Abstract: A standard is something that is established by an authority, social practice, custom, or by general consent of a group of people to set an example or develop an acceptable model. Flow measurement standards are often established by regulatory agencies, users, manufacturers, and/or a group of knowledgeable people. Measurement Standards are established to provide a uniformity of installation, operation, and secondary instrumentation that will improve metering efficiency, measurement repeatability and accuracy, and ensure equity between all parties concerned, especially for custody transfer application. A flow measurement standard is developed to provide guidance to the users to achieve the best possible utilization of the metering device. It should also be the Best Practice for the users to obtain precise measurement with optimum long-term costof- ownership of the meter.
