Abstract: The manufacturer of pneumatic controllers has made every effort to meet the needs of the industry by making available instruments with many different sizes, shapes, and control actions. Where the instrument is to be installed will dictate the size and shape the complexity of the process will dictate the control action. It is apparent from observation that some processes are more difficult to stabilize than others and that it is more difficult for the controller to prevent these processes fiom deviating from the desired set point. The degree of difficulty in maintaining precise control prompts the purchase and use of instruments with different control action capabilities the more difficult the control of the process, the more complex the controller.
