Abstract: The subject of this paper is the system developed by the Southern California Gas Company to automate the network analysis process and how it is used to analyze the distribution piping system for system planning and pressure/flow studies. The various problems encountered and the resulting solutions are identified and discussed. The cost benefits associated with the use of network analysis for system planning and the overall project are examined and evaluated. Future system developments, plans for the expansion of the Network Analysis System Automation database and integration with a full AM/FM system are explored.
