Abstract: There are two major liquid storage tank measurement categories. The first is what I refer to as general process level measurement The second is inventory tank gauging. Both have very different sets of requirements. The primary subject of this paper is measurement methods for liquid inventory tank gauging since it is a complex measurement requirement with regulatory implications and a variety of applicable methods, We will discuss those requirements, implications and specific measurement methods in this paper. We will also outline the principle of operation of several recognized technologies used for inventory tank gauging with a review of their distinct benefits and issues A list of applicable regulatory standards information is also found at the end of the text.
