Abstract: Natural gas companies have been looking for ways to increase pipeline capacities as the demand for gas has increased. The least expensive method was to operate the lines at higher p r e s s u r e . This presented two p r o b l e m s - n o i se due to pressuee drops at regulator stations and how to increase the capacity of the station without major revisions. The noise problem was solved by soundproofing vaults. To solve the pressue drops, gas companies have used three types of valves as regulator.. These a r e plug, butterfly and ball valves
