Title: Documenting Calibrators Extend The Reach Of Metrology Professionals

Abstract: Metrology professionals have witnessed an increased demand for documented, traceable calibrations, driven by quality standards and government regulations. In many cases, those regulations are encouraging the rigorous calibration of a new category of workload, process control instrumentation. At the same time, metrologists have seen continued pressure to control expenses. An emerging class of tools, documenting calibrators, permits the metrology professional to extend the reach of metrology services to the world of process instrumentation. The documenting calibrator allows the metrologist to enlist the process instrumentation technician as a calibration technician to perform consistent, documented calibrations during the course of normal maintenance rounds.
