Abstract: The information presented in this paper is a resume of the various methods of field testing large capacity meters. The methods we will cover are: Low pressure flow proving, which is the use of an orifice meter at low pressure to compare the meter to. Critical flow proving, which tests the meter at its operating pressure by comparing it to the flow through a critical flow nozzle. Transfer testing , which is comparing the meter to another meter that is an accurate standard. Differential pressure testing of rotary meters, which is checking the condition of a rotary meter by the differential necessary to operate it. Spin testing is used with turbine meters to check the condition of the meter by timing the length of spin of the roto
