Abstract: Anyone who has followed the trade or financial press the last six to twelve months, or more particularly most of you who live daily in the gas industry, must be intimately familiar with the developments taking place which create the situation in which we find ourselves. Basic to all these developments is a growing awareness of a domestic gas shortage which naturally poses the problem as to how to best alleviate this situation both in the short and long term with ihe minimum impact on the growth of the industry and always recognizing that we are in a competitive industry and therefore our customers must be assured adequate supplies of natural gas at a price commensurate with its true value in the market place in relation to competing energy sources.
