Abstract: The safety record of the natural gas industry is one that we all can be proud of. And every day distribution utility companies, as well as the rest of the industry including equipment suppliers, continue to work to make it still a better one. In this regard, 1 would like to present my views on the subject of overpressure protection. 1 will only discuss overpressure protection as it relates to the customers regulator and meter set. Or, in other words, as it relates to the facilities provided by the utility to reduce distribution system pressure to the customers utilization pressure. 1 will not be discussing over-pressure protection as it relates to the distribution system itself and its pressure relieving and limiting stations.
