Abstract: The accuracy of a liquid meter, like any other instrument that is used to measure, is entirely dependent on its calibration. How are meters calibrated, or what is used as a known reference? Provers, sometimes called Meter Provers, are the known reference or standard needed to calibrate a meter. The procedure of calibrating a meter is normally done in accordance with standards set forth by the American Petroleum Institute manual of petroleum measurement standards.
