Abstract: This paper has been prepared for management to assist in understanding the language of corrosion protection. All industries and technical disciplines have unique phrases and acronyms that are commonly used. This is certainly true with respect to corrosion control where the speciality language can lead to difficulties in communication. For management to effectively make fact-based decisions and for the corrosion staff to contribute to the organization at the highest level, effective communication is essential. Language barriers hinder communication and ultimately prevent understanding.
