Abstract: The hardest and most severe winter in decades (during 1976-1977) precipitated a natural gas energy crisis through the eastern and mid-western sections of the Limited Stales. Energy conservation has become the most expeditiousiy pursued subject for legislators and regulatory bodies in all of the political arenas. However, energy conservation is not new to the gas industry, it is a very important and integral part of our business. Through energy conservation efforts, utilities are able to maintain comfort in the customers homes while reducing consumption and subsequently gas bills are kept at a minimum. Also, conservation of natural gas extends the gas supply to new customers.
