Abstract: This paper presents a review of the accuracy attainable with the Cutler- Hammer recording calorimeter and outlines specific maintenance requirements related to establishing this accuracy. Various parts of the instrument are examined to show the impact on the overall result. A brief description of the principle of operation is included together with definitions of related terms. The fundamental accuracy tests are reviewed in detail. Various aspects of the recording unit and tank unit are examined to show their relationship to accuracy. Finally, the required maintenance to insure the most accurate results is outlined.
