Abstract: This paper presents an introductory discussion of fieldmounted gas flow computers in general, and the low-power variety in particular. What makes the low-power category different is that these instruments use disposable batteries or very smail, inexpensive solar panels with rechargeable batteries. What makes non-rechargeable batteries practical for this purpose is extremely low power consumption, A pair of ordinary alkaline lantern batteries typically lasts well over a year.
