Abstract: This paper presents an overview of ISO 10012 and that standards approach to measurement systems. While rooted in time proven metrological principles, 10012 extends those principles to wherever quantitative measurement are made. Some new words, or usages, are explored and shown to simply be new ways to express old processes. Customers requirements that product conform to determined requirements provides opportunities for improvement in the measurement process. ISO 10012 provides guidance and tools to help those whose product is measurement.
