Abstract: What is Earned Value Management (EVM)? Can it be applied in the metrology business arena? This paper will attempt to answer both questions. Very simply stated, EVM is a project management toolset comprised of a set of metrics which can be employed to compare the planned performance of a project to the actual performance. It can be used to track individual tasks or the overall project. EVM metrics will provide the project manager, or team leader, with a clear picture of financial performance to-date, schedule performance to-date, and the value of the work accomplished to-date.
