Abstract: The calibration or strapping of storage tanks is the basis of many measurements which are required in the handling of bulk liquid quantities in storage. No bulk quantities in a tank can be determined with a precision greater than that inherent in the calibration of that tank. Any error made in the calibration of storage tanks acts constantly in one direction, and during that long peroid in which the tank capacity tables remain in force, such e r r o r s can involve appreciable quantities of oil. The purpose of this paper is to introduce you to tank calibration by linear measurement and liquid calibration methods.
