Abstract: A special report in the March 1985 issue ot Electrical World gives an excellent overview of the current application of robotics in the electric utility industry. In the report, we see three major areas where the utility can exploit robotics. First, to perform jobs in plain areas, particularly in nuclear plants, where, because of exposure to heat or radiation, humans cannot work. Second in transmission, distribution, and substation applications to permit more live line work or to reduce the cost of labor-intensive operations. And third, in the automation of industrial customers plants, to build and shape load.
